I love when people speak there minds, especially when they throw away the whole political correct concept and just say how it is. I am among the many disappointed to see NBC put Isaiah Washington back on TV in the upcoming Bionic Woman. The man has made far to many slips and the problems on the set of Grey’s Anatomy could spell problems for the upcoming Bionic Woman. Here is what ABC’s President Steve McPherson had to say:
“ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson, in unusually candid remarks to reporters Wednesday, lashed out at NBC’s new Co-Chairman Ben Silverman as “either clueless or stupid” for failing to tell the whole story about Isaiah Washington’s firing, and for his handling of his own hiring.
In a business where few executives speak their minds, McPherson set a new standard for candor in springing to the defense of his close personal friend Kevin Reilly, who was forced out by NBC to make way for Silverman, and now is co-president of Fox Broadcasting. His anger was fueled by the way Reilly was treated and how NBC executives last week characterized his exit.
McPherson complained to a gaggle of reporters after his formal remarks during the semi-annual TV critics press tour, that reporters and critics had let Silverman have a free pass on his description of hiring Isaiah Washington, who had been dropped from “Gray’s Anatomy” by ABC after he made remarks about gays.
“You guys let him off the hook,” said McPherson, “but that’s your prerogative.”

I am always looking for articles that are discussing the upcoming show Bionic Woman, and there was an interesting article on the San Jose Mercury News that discusses how TV is getting more mature, specifically with the new women roles that are coming to TV this fall. Here is what the Mercury News had to say about Michelle Ryan and the upcoming Bionic Woman:
“And speaking of powerful females, there is probably no match for NBC’s “Bionic Woman,” which features British actress Michelle Ryan in a remake of the 1970s superhero series. “The show has a metaphorical message about embracing your power,” says Katherine Pope, president of Universal Media Studios, which produces “Bionic Woman.” “I think it’s very tough for women to feel feminine and be strong, and I think that is a concept that is just coming into the zeitgeist.”

According to TVSquad.com, they report that Mark Sheppard is set to make a regular appearance on Bionic Woman. You may know Mark Sheppard for his work on shows like 24, Medium, and Battlestar Galactica. Mark has never really had a big time role, and this his appearance on Bionic Woman could very well turn out to be a break out spot for him. We will have to just continue to wait and see what the casting of Bionic Woman continues to do some last minute casting.

The continued casting of Bionic Woman seems to continue on with the last minute permanent acquisition of Katee Sackhoff who will find a reoccurring role on Bionic Woman. According to TVSquad.com they had this to say:
“Katee Sackhoff, who plays Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, just inked a last-minute deal for a recurring role on NBC’s Bionic Woman. She has a guest spot in the pilot as a “bad” bionic woman and you’ve probably noticed that she has been played up pretty heavily in NBC’s promo spots for the new series. But, she only was scheduled to appear in the first few episodes… until last night. Sackhoff and NBC Universal came to a contract deal where her “bad” character will now be a recurring role.”

With the NBC press tour we are seeing more and more information on the new upcoming shows from NBC including Bionic Woman. On the press tour this gives a lot of media outlets a good chance to catch up with some of the cast and crew of the show. IGN an entertainment website had the chance to talk with both Michelle Ryan the leading actress playing the Bionic Woman and the Executive Producer David Eick. Here is a little snippet from the interview:
“Ryan explained that when she first heard about the role, “I was filming a horror film with Faye Dunaway, a very low-budget British film, and I got the call saying would you like to audition? So I drove down, wrapped at 2:00 in the morning, drove down back to London, and put myself on tape. I didn’t think anything of it, and then I got a call saying they’d love to fly you out to screen test. And I thought, oh, OK, great. I can go to L.A., hopefully sign with a good agent, and, you know, it
would be good experience to go in a few meetings. And then, I went in and met David Eick and all the producers. And I got so excited because they were so enthusiastic about the project, and I just thought, ‘Actually, I really want this now!’ When you see, like, Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider and you see her sort of kicking ass, you’re like, yeah, I want to be like that. I want to be strong, and I want to be confident and empowered. And I think that’s a really great message that Bionic Woman will hopefully bring out there”

Greys Anatomy fans have had one weird summer, the whole thing started with some off the wall comments from one of the stars of the show Isaiah Washington, which has created a lot of turmoil on the set. In an interview with Michelle Ryan the new star of the remake of the 70’s classic Bionic Woman, recalls some times of tension on the set of really her break through role on EastEnders. Michelle had this to say about her time on the show.
“Like any job, you’re not going to get on with every single person who works there,” says Ryan. “I think because there was so much press interest in EastEnders there was some tension. I’m not going to say it was a happy family all the time. It wasn’t. I did make some brilliant friends, though.”
Why was there tension? “It was partly people trying to get into the limelight,” says Ryan. “And partly because people were having stories sold about them the whole time. There were quite a lot of leaks at EastEnders - different people selling stories to newspapers. In the end, I was like: ‘Who can I trust?’”

Over at ITV.com they have an short interview with Michelle Ryan (the new Bionic Woman) colleague from her previous show Eastenders Jessie Wallace had this to say about Michelle’s new role
“I’m pleased for her. I think she really really deserves it.”
To me I would think she could say more, but then again the fact that there are no hard feelings or resentment is a good thing to. To me it seems as though Michelle Ryan has been given a great opportunity to really shine here in the US, and I hope she takes full advantage of it.
