Interviews are usually great insight to any TV show, a lot of times they can be extremely candid and give you more information on a show then you probably would ever expect. Over at BuddyTV they have an interview with Crystal Lowe who plays a friend of Bionic Woman. It is a good solid interview, I give the guys over at BuddyTV a lot of credit for running down a good guest, who really does give some interesting insight into the show. I am going to give you a snippet of the interview here, but for the rest go on over to BuddyTV listen to the audio version, or read the rest of the interview!
And what more, can you tell us any more about your character? Who is she, what does she do?
I bartend with Jamie at the bar, I also live upstairs from her, and I have a roommate. She’s one of Jamie’s other girl friends, and one of my best friends on the show, and she’s a funny character. I think you get a little bit of comic relief from her in a kind of serious drama show. She definitely has no problem speaking her mind, and so she feels and thinks she kind of adds some humor to Jaime’s life.
I would imagine it’s a heavy action show, but your character is probably not as involved with a lot of action aspects of the show.
No, I wish I was. I’m dying to get a Jackie Chan movie, that’s all I wanna do. I want to work with him and fight, but no, in this one I probably won’t be. Unless something terrible happens, and she has to save me from something that I don’t know about. That’s about it, I think.

We all remember the announcement of Glen Morgan leaving Bionic Woman a few weeks before the official premiere. Lets just say it hasn’t sounded like roses over on the set of Bionic Woman, with a lot of controversy already stirring and the show hasn’t even aired yet. However with Glen Morgans departure it looks as though NBC shifted Jason Katims who was working on the struggling Friday Night Light’s. Here is what TVSquad had to say about the addition of Jason Katims to Bionic Woman:
NBC has brought in Friday Night Lights executive producer Jason Katims to consult on Bionic Woman, after Glen Morgan left over those curious ‘creative differences.’ It’s certainly not a new story, a producer getting an extra iron in the fire even though they have a show already on the schedule. Although, usually we see this with producers who have established hits on their hands. This one comes as a bit of a surprise to me, given the tenuous nature of FNL’s position.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m as much in the bag for the show, and Katims, as anybody. But we have to be realistic and admit that the renewal did come as something of a surprise after the way the show performed in the ratings last season. Renewing it was a gamble for the network, so is pulling one of the people credited with giving it that quality away to work on another show really the best idea? I certainly think that Katims can be a help to the Bionic Woman team, but I hope that Friday Night Lights doesn’t suffer for it.

Yes you read that correctly, the pilot for Bionic Woman can now be found by going to the Amazon Unbox service (yes NBC is no longer on iTunes) free of charge. After the big battle between Apple and NBC, NBC split ways and went over to Amazon. So in an effort to get you better familiarized with Amazon’s service they are giving away the pilot for Bionic Woman free of charge. So as long as you have an Amazon account or don’t mind creating one, checking out the Bionic Woman pilot is really as easy as a few clicks. To check out the free pilot episode of Bionic Woman go to Amazon Unbox and click Buy with One Click, and your good to go.

I have read my fair share of articles on the Bionic Woman, and many of which have discussed the addition of Isaiah Washington to the cast. However the Washington Post has an extremely interesting article on how Isaiah Washington may limit the audience in which watches the show, which particularly talks about gays who may hold a lot of anguish against the former Grey’s Anatomy star. Here is what the Washington Post had on the current Bionic situation:
What’s a thoroughly postmodern gay to do when one of the iconic heroines of ’70s television is relaunched on a network that eagerly embraces an actor who gets dumped from his hit show on another network after proving himself all too comfortable with a certain homophobic slur?
Okay, fine, maybe you don’t get the Bionic Woman idolization. Maybe you’ve never been on the receiving end of the “f” slur. (What are you, one of those nine out of 10 people who “scientific research” suggests isn’t gay?) But unless you’d rather be contemplating lesser, tawdrier issues — say, the public-restroom dating habits of a certain Republican senator — stick with us here.
NBC’s new “Bionic Woman” series, premiering Sept. 26, was not without a certain amount of audience anxiety before Isaiah Washington even came into the picture.
Emotional connections to characters like the Bionic Woman can run deep for countless gay viewers who see isolation and repression reflected in heroes who must harbor secret identities and who can’t show off their fabulousness in their everyday lives.
Take, for example, a misfit child in 1970s Anytown, U.S.A., who doesn’t even have a name for his difference — homosexuality — but is deluged with cultural cues that whatever his true nature is, it’s wrong. The Bionic Woman, Jaime Sommers, was a bright spot in dark times: She could protect you; she knew what it was like to not fit in; she could pull off a velour tracksuit.
“She’s literally made different,” says Andrew Belonsky, editor of Queerty.com, an outpost in the gay blogosphere, which has kept close tabs on the new series and its casting controversy. “Any show where someone is on the fringe” can be close to a gay viewer’s heart.
NBC has played heartbreaker to many gay fans by bringing Isaiah Washington into the “Bionic Woman” fold. Then again, the network hasn’t exactly treated the show as sacrosanct.

This is one of those posts that is going to hit people different ways as this sort of thing does sometimes happen with any new show. However according to TVGuide.com, Glen Morgan the Executive Producer on the new show Bionic Woman has stepped down. This comes just weeks before the show premiers on NBC and comes after a lot of buzz and anticipation for the remade classic. Here is everything that TVGuide had to say on the topic:
The Ausiello Report has learned that Bionic Woman executive producer Glen Morgan (of X-Files fame) has left the buzzed-about fall series. (Can you say “creative differences”? Good, because we’re not supposed to speculate.)
Says NBC: “Glen Morgan has helped create a great template for Bionic Woman but has decided to pursue other endeavors now. We wish him the best. The creative team of David Eick and Jason Smilovic continue as executive producers on Bionic Woman, and we are excited about the new series’ debut September 26.”
How about you? Still excited about Woman without her main man? In his absence, will his successors make the show better, stronger, faster than before?
These are great questions to close off with, and in my opinion it makes me a little leary of the shows future in general, loosing one of its biggest stars behind the camera.

I don’t like the name “Unbox” from Amazon, but as many of you may or may not know, NBC has moved it’s TV shows away from iTunes and onto the Amazon Unbox service, something I am increasingly disappointed with, especially since I don’t particularly care for the Amazon Unbox service. With that being said, for those wanting to get an early fix on Bionic Woman, NBC has officially announced that they will be releasing pilots for there upcoming new shows on the Amazon Unbox service to get you all ready for the upcoming Fall Season.
After the premier’s of NBC’s new shows, you will then be able to download each episode the day after it airs. I am sure we will be hearing more from the Amazon Unbox support from NBC in the future.
