Planning a career
Written by califire on April 29th, 2008
Planning your vocation should be a rewarding experience and here are a few tips to guide you along the way,
- Make vocation planning an annual event. If you have already short listed a potential list of careers do the same every year of your studies or even if you are on a sabbatical after your studies .This way as your preferences change you can cancel out those choices which are not really relevant any more.
- Map your path at every livelihood planning. That means every time you sit down with the list of short listed careers, write down what you have been doing with your time. Did you find that activity interesting and challenging? Would like to take up that activity as a full-time career? For example if you have been writing for your school and college newspaper would you like to take up journalism as a permanent occupation?
- Short list your likes and dislikes into two separate groups. And then again find which job on your list will fit into that category.
